Huron Valley Aikikai is pleased to offer a children's class for kids
ages 5-10. Classes run Saturday afternoons from 12:15 to 1:00 PM.
The winter/spring session for 2010 will begin
on January 16 and conclude June 12 with breaks at
major holidays and school vacations. Please contact the dojo for more
information on class times as there will be occasional breaks in the
schedule.
Our children's class features an engaging combination of exercises,
games, and Aikido techniques with the goal of helping kids to develop their
minds and bodies in a fun and structured setting. Parents are welcome to join
their children on the mat as well at no charge.
The principal instructor for the children's class is HVA member John
Hubbard. John began studying aikido in 1999 at Central Illinois Aikikai in
Urbana, Illinois. He has practiced at Huron Valley Aikikai since 2005 and holds
the rank of shodan ("first degree black belt"). He is the father
of two daughters. John works for Ford Motor Company.
The fee for the winter/spring classes is $135, which includes both
instruction and a gi (uniform). As children continue to participate in
the sessions and grow out of their gis, we will provide a new gi as needed free
of charge. To encourage a group spirit and a feeling of cooperation among the
participants, we ask that all children enroll as close to the beginning of the
course as possible. As the program grows, we may consider offering the class on
a more continuous basis with a monthly fee structure.
If you are interested please let us know by filling out the short form
below and John will contact you shortly! You may also pre-pay for the course
using the PayPal secure payment button below (PayPal or major credit
