Announcing our 2023 Kids Camp Activities and Daily Attendance Option!

It's not too late to join the fun! If your child would like to join us for one or more day of camp they may do so for a fee of $100/day! Contact the dojo if you are interested!

Daily options include the regular camp schedule of 9AM to 3PM with our Aikido programming and: 

Monday, June 19 - Japanese Cooking

Tuesday, June 20 - Calligraphy and Origami with teachers from the Japanese Business Society of Detroit Women's Club

Thursday, June 22 - Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) with the Ann Arbor Ikebana Chapter

Friday, June 23 - Buranku (Japanese puppetry) with the Detroit Puppet Company

Wednesday's session is open to week-long campers only.

Huron Valley Aikikai is pleased to announce its second summer camp for kids aged 5 to 12! Our camp will include a variety of activities including Aikido classes (of course), games, craft and cultural activities, and some excursions around town (e.g., to the park, to the University to see Japanese art, to the pool...). CONTACT US today if your child(ren) would be interested!

The basics:

  • DATES: June 19-23

  • Times: 8:45AM to 3:00PM (including time for "brown bag" lunch brought from home)

    • Kids may be dropped off any day between 8:15 and 8:45 for an additional $10 per day.​

  • No prior martial arts or Aikido experience necessary!

  • Led by HVA's kids' program director Terri Park Sensei!

    • Terri has trained in and taught Aikido to kids and adults for 25 years and holds the rank of 5th degree Black Belt along with an instructors' certification from Birankai North America.​

    • Prior to moving to Ann Arbor in 2012, she was a tenured elementary school Theater Arts teacher at P.S. 217 in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from New York University.
